Toast the Trees

This is our fourth year partnering with The Arbor Day Foundation for Toast the Trees in honor of September’s National Bourbon Heritage Month. We love our industry, and we believe that it’s of the utmost importance to ensure that it’s a sustainable industry. Our Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson believed deeply in giving back, and we know that he would have appreciated this program. During the first three years, we’ve managed to plant over 13,000 white oak trees across Appalachia and Kentucky, and while that number of trees alone could grow into a modest forest, we’re not happy with “modest.” If bourbon is going to have a bright future, we’re going to need massive forests of oak trees to sustain future generations of whiskey fans.

There’s good news: you can help us plant these forests of the future. The better news is that all you have to do is snap a photo of an Angel’s Envy drink—neat, on the rocks or cocktail—doesn’t matter—you can even take a picture of the bottle. Next, post that picture to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #AE4THETREES. Then finish your drink; it’s getting warm. For every hashtag we count, we’ll plant a white oak tree. And when I say “we,” I mean our actual, very small team.

Last spring, we planted 6,670 trees within Daniel Boone National Park last. This year, with your support, we hope to do much, much better. So the next time you’re out, please consider ordering an Angel’s Envy and taking a moment to snap and share a drink picture that actually matters. Your picture will plant the roots that could grow into a barrel in 75 years—that’s a pretty nice legacy for a moment’s effort.
